It’s been a busy month for CoCreate!
Our Postcards From Memory exhibition is now installed in the foyer of Bournemouth Library with nearly 50 of your beautiful postcard artworks. Do pop down and check it it out if you can. The library is open Monday – Saturday, and the exhibition will be in place throughout October 2020.
Meanwhile the CoCreate team has been working with artist Rosie Edwards on Process, a collaborative project for Arts By The Sea festival. The project offered 18 participants opportunities to engage in theatre, creative writing and visual arts workshops both online and in person. Each participant worked on a pillowcase as their canvas to produce a personal piece of artwork in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Each pillowcase tells a personal story of lockdown. From care staff working in PPE to an individual’s isolation; from personal loss to the reassuring sound of birdsong. The individual artworks were installed on Sandbanks beach on a windy Sunday, and participants were invited to come together, to reflect on and share their journey through the project. It was a moving and celebratory day.
And finally….. we have been working behind the scenes to secure funding to enable us to bring creative activities to more people. We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding from Dorset Community Foundation to enable us to offer regular creative sessions.
Our hope is that these will start soon…watch this space!
