Spring Term
Starting Wednesday 28th January 2026
Hamworthy – Powerhouse
Course Overview

Material Worlds: Is a series of workshops that invite you to explore and experiment with different materials, using the materials of our lives, our place and our community and approaches to making art as a way of discovering your own creativity.
The course will concentrate on the process not results learning to relax, play and have fun.
These sessions will support you through giving you the confidence and time to express your own creativity.
Course leader is visual artist Rosie Edwards
What to Expect

Over the eight weeks we will be exploring different approaches to working with different mixed media (paper, plastic, fabric, wire, recycled material) in art and artists that work this way. Giving you a way of working that will support you in developing your own art and creativity.
Focus is on process, not perfection. We will try out different techniques’ including, mark making, stitch, collage, layering print and sculptural design. Sessions build on each other and as such it’d be good if participants can commit to all 8 sessions. Participants can add to personal samples each week and/or create pieces that can be joined into a final piece that can be shared.
And as always at CoCreate, we’ll have fun and learn something new, together.
What you’ll achieve

Reconnect to who you are by discovering ways to express yourself and your ideas through art whilst having fun, meeting new people in a safe and nurturing environment.
How to work like an artist, explore, experiment and learn.

CoCreate sessions are designed to be safe and supportive spaces, that allow you the freedom to do your best work.
Our courses are suitable for all levels of experience, and we welcome complete beginners.
When you sign up you’ll be asked if there’s anything you might need access support with, this could include physical access (lifts, wheel chair access, etc) or other things like help with writing, large print, or more time to process information. We send reminder texts on the day to everyone.
You don’t have to tell us anything you don’t want to share, and we’re always happy to talk about how we can support you at any point in the course.
